Supper in the Garden

Sunshine is so great. The size of my living space doubles when the sun is out. I set up a big table in the backyard and we use it a lot. A couple of nights ago I had some friends over and experimented with some new recipes. I had fun making the table pretty just in case the recipes didn’t turn out because if the package is pretty who cares what’s inside, right? The blueberry chutney on crostini turned out great!dinner in the gardendinner al frescosupper in the gardendinner al frescodinner al fresco

How to make a planter from a cute but useless 2 tiered wire basket

I have never been able to figure out what to do with this wire basket. It was just so big. Then one day I walked into my backyard and realized it would work great out there holding lots of little plants!  a collection of plants

I had a pocket full of birthday money so off to the plant store I went. My plan was to get succulents but found I couldn’t resist some herbs and some plain old cute plants. It’ll probably end up a disaster when some grow and grow and grow out of their new home.

I lined the baskets with some burlap. Adding in some potting soil and then stuffing in all the plants was pretty easy.lining the basket with burlap and soil

A Bridal Shower

Some time ago an old friend of mine got engaged and that meant….I got to throw a party!!  One of my very favorite things to do.  I apologize for the lack of quality of the photos as it was long before I had a decent camera.

My party plan included a photo booth, a craft station, and a lot of good food.bridal shower treats

I collected a pile of bras for photo booth props. Everyone had fun posing in them.photo strips

The craft station had lots of little wooden people who were to be painted as the bride and groom. The bride was going to be wearing a beautiful teal blue dress which made the painting even more fun. She ended up decorating her wedding cake with all the mini brides and grooms.bridal shower craft table  crafting at the bridal shower

ombre geraniums….just imagine what this will look like in a couple of months!

I hope you are enjoying your garden as much as I am mine. Cross your fingers that I get out and water enough. Why oh why is it so challenging for me sometimes? I have lived in this garden for 10 springtimes. I am always so tickled when the bleeding hearts come back. Look! The lilacs are blooming again. There used to be daffodils among the tulips but the squirrels snacked on the bulbs. Thankfully they didn’t like the tulips. Those forget-me-nots remind me of a dear friend every year! The backyard project is almost complete.  It gets rearrange almost every year. Maybe this year will be my favorite.  I’ll show you when it is finished.sneak-peak

5 or more ways to style a coffee table

coffee table vignettes

I am always struggling with what to put on my coffee table. It is an old, wooden door from a lumber mill in Eastern Oregon. I love it. I would prefer to have a fabulous carpet underneath to really allow the beauty of the wood to shine but, alas, it sits on a hardwood floor next to a dog that thinks all carpet is lawn.

The table often has coffee on it. The struggle is with what to have with the coffee. Feet. There are feet upon it, too. I decided to grab a bunch of things from around my house and play with different vignettes. Which is your favorite?
